There are many creatures throughout Yliakum, in here you will find information on both ferocious (and not so ferocious) creatures as well as rogues and other vile characters.
Wild Animals
Rarely are wild animals found in large cities except for rats which come and infest the sewers and cellars. These animals are often the best for people seeking to train since they range from simple creatures such as rats to extremely powerful monsters such as ulbernauts. Because of this, some creatures have been brought to the Hydlaa Arena so that various people can fight them without having to look for them.
Biorlitrosans
Barn Bouncetail
Barn Bouncetails are insects. Although not rare, they are not very common either. Barn Bouncetails originally come from The Barn, the second level, and just like many other insects, they eat plants. However, they seem to like certain kinds of rare flowers in particular, which makes them very much disliked in the gardeners' community. Luckily for gardeners, Barn Bouncetails flee from the odour of consumer pheromones (consumers being one of their natural enemies).
Carkarass
Carkarasses are the only type of flying creatures, along with pterosaurs and megarases. They are seldom seen in the world of the living, but many people coming back from the Death Realm claim to have seen some flying around. Not much is known about them; scientists know only that they live in the Death Realm and they fly.
- Appearance
- A feathered, flying creature with two tails.
- Strength
- Not a hindrance to any experienced adventurer, but amateurs should beware.
- Natural Habitat
- They are occasionally seen roaming around the Death Realm
Poison Carkarass
- Appearance
- A Poison Carkarass resembles the normal Carkarass. Most people cannot distinguish one from the other
- Strength
- Poison Carkarasses are far stronger then normal Carkarasses, so beware when engaging them in combat.
- Natural Habitat
- Just like normal Carkarasses, the Poison Carkarasses live in the Death Realm.
Fire Carkarass
- Appearance
- Fire Carkarasses are identical in most respects to other Carkarasses, but are easily distinguished by their fiery colour
- Strength
- Fire Carkarasses are as strong as Poison Carkarasses
- Natural Habitat
- As do all other species of Carkarasses, the Fire Carkarass lives in the Death Realm.
Clackers
Clackers are very closely related to crabs, having a hard exoskeleton, which gives them protection and makes them very robust. Their two front limbs are tipped with razor-sharp blades, which can be used to inflict serious damage on anyone who comes within range.
- Appearance
- An insect-like creature resembling an over-sized hermit crab.
- Strength
- Fairly stupid and not a serious threat to the experienced.
- Natural Habitat
- The arena has a fairly large population of these, but many can be found in the sewers and dungeons throughout Yliakum. Clackers are sometimes hunted for their meat, which is used to prepare many flavourful dishes.
Thunderclackers
Unlike common Clackers, Thunderclackers are blue in colour. They also make a great deal more noise, hence the name: thunderclackers.
- Apperance
- Physically, they look just like Clackers, save for their their royal blue and silvery grey colouring.
- Strength
- Natural Habitat
- Thunderclackers are found mostly in the wilds, and are quite uncommon near towns.
Consumers
Consumers are rarely seen and little is known of them. Only in recent years have consumers been spotted in any numbers, and scientists speculate that they arrived via the great pits into which the dead are thrown. They will eat anything that fits into their large, round mouth, and some people claim that consumers have the ability to "upgrade" themselves from what they eat. For example, if they eat intelligent creatures, they will themselves become more intelligent.
- Appearance
- A being with a large, insect-like body and a massive maw of needle-like teeth.
- Strength
- Consumers are aptly named as they have a constant, ravaging hunger and can eat and digest almost any known substance. It is rumored that the only things consumers cannot digest are certain types of magical weapons and armor, although this information has never been confirmed. Although Consumers have no eyes, they possess the uncanny ability to find prey using some strange sensory organs unknown to the peoples of Yliakum.
- Natural Habitat
- Consumers are rare, but can be found in the wilds between Hydlaa and the Eagle Bronze Doors. Some have been spotted near the road between Hydlaa and Ojaveda as well.
Derghir
Derghirs are small creatures with a reletively high intelligence. They are able to construct buildings from what looks like stone and crystal, they also appear to have a social order of some kind. The Derghir also have their own complex language. Some people are able to learn this language and can communicate with the Derghir easily.
- Appearance
- A short, humanoid creature with a thick rock-like exoskeloton. They have very large, powerfull claws and the ability to withstand the Crystal's radiation better than any other race.
- Strength
- Their vuneralbility has not been documented to this date, but it has been estimated that these creatures are hard to kill with conventional weapons due to their rocky exterior. Blunt weapons such as clubs and maces are thought to be more effective.
- Natural Habitat
- They have been observed through observatory telescopes as living on the Azure Sun itself. Recently however, they have settled on the surface in small villiages.
Gawerts
Gobbles
Gobbles are unpleasant creatures living in Hydlaa's sewers and probably other dark places. They are semi-intelligent and display a certain amount of cunning. It is said among scientists that they can even speak to each other. Their long limbs allow them to run quickly, either to fight or flee.
- Appearance
- A short, humanoid creature with mottled skin and a nasty disposition, these beings can be dangerous to the young and inexperienced. Although they have limited intelligence, it is believed that one might communicate with them if one speaks their native tongue.
- Strength
- Natural Habitat
- They have been found in the labyrinthine sewers of Hydlaa City.
Eagle Gobbles
Eagle Gobbles, members of the 'Eagle' Clan of Gobbles, are identical in build to the common gobble, but adorn themselves with tattoos and, sometimes, jewelery. This body decoration is indicative of their fairly high degree of intelligence.
- Appearance
- Similar to the common gobble, Eagle Gobbles can be distinguished by their distinctive red tattoos and tendency to wear jewelery.
- Strength
- Unknown.
- Natural Habitat
- Eagle Gobbles are found in the wild areas of Yliakum.
Serpent Gobbles
Serpent Gobbles are members of the 'Serpent' Clan of Gobbles. It is believed that their custom of wearing more jewelery than other Gobbles is to signify their higher degree of intelligence.
- Appearance
- They are identical in physiognomy to the common Gobble, but with striking orange skin, the occasional tattoo and an abundance of jewelery.
- Strength
- Natural Habitat
- Serpent Gobbles can be found in all wild areas.
Grendol
- Appearance
- A foul beast that reeks of death.
- Strength
- Although it is not very intelligent, it has very heavy limbs which can easily inflict serious damage to most unskilled fighters.
- Natural Habitat
- This abomination dwells in dungeons and dark places, preying upon the unwary. Most are of a malignant nature, although there are rumors about the existence of an intelligent, neutral being resembling a Grendol existing somewhere in one of the nether realms.
Rats
The most common vile creature in Yliakum, rats have become a pest in the large towns. They proliferate where food is freely available, and always seem able to find some way to get it. They will eat the rotting corpses in sewers as well as the fresh meet in someone's cupboard. They have been known to attack people if they got too close, however they are generally so inoffensive that kids often tease them just for fun.
- Appearance
- Rats in this world are quite large and covered with greyish fur. They have one eye and a skinny tail. They use their sharp teeth to attack, and while a Rat's bite can be quite painful, it does not inflict too much damage.
- Strength
- Because they are quite easy to defeat, fighting them is a good way for the weaker adventurer to gain experience.
- Natural Habitat
- Rats can be found in the sewers of Hydlaa, or in the warehouse district of Ojaveda.
Wrathrats
Wrathrats are very much like common rats in shape, however, their appearance is dramatically different. Only half of the head has flesh, the rest is skeleton; their bodies are skinned, bare muscles are open to the air and held together in places with coarse stitchings. It is unsure whether they feed or not since they do not seem to be alive in the natural sense. Some speculate that a sorcerer cast a spell upon some rats, dooming them never to rest in peace.
- Appearance
- Wrathrats have the same physical shape as common rats, but their fur is of a bloody red and and their skin adheres to their skeleton by only a few stitches here and there.
- Strength
- Wrathrats are far more powerful then common rats; their big claws can inflict serious damage to the careless or unskilled fighter.
- Natural Habitat
- Unlike common rats, wrathrats live in the Death Realm, and have never been seen in Yliakum.
Tefusang
- Appearance
- A large nasty beast with leathery skin, horned appendages and two large tentacles hanging from the torso.
- Strength
- The potential strength of this breed varies widely, ranging from average to almost supernatural. Because it is hard to judge the level of threat from just the appearance, the wise adventurer should be wary when approaching one of these creatures. Tefusang's leathery skin and teeth are valued for both armor and alchemical formulas and can fetch a modest price from many merchants.
- Natural Habitat
- Tefusangs are seen throught Yliakum. Although fairly common, they tend to avoid highly populated places, preferring areas which are rarely accessed. There is also a colony which has been brought to the arena for anyone who would like to match his or her skill against one.
Marfusang
Tloke
Trepor
- Appearance
- An intelligent and hostile creature resembling a spider, but with a human face.
- Strength
- Trepors are foul beings. It is rumored that some are able to use magic. Trepors are difficult, but not impossible to slay.
- Natural Habitat
- Trepors dwell in the wilds for the most part, although a colony was established in the Hydlaa Arena for training purposes. One can fetch a very nice fee for the hearts of these monsters from 'animal parts' merchants.
Ulbernauts
- Appearance
- Ulbernauts are vicious and extremely powerful beasts; their parts are valued for many things; their hides and claws are highly valuable to 'fur and animal parts' traders, while their hearts are prized by magicians and priests as a component of ritual magic.
- Strength
- One of the deadliest creatures in all of Yliakum, Ulbernauts stand over four meters tall, have two massively clawed arms, a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth and a thick coat of shaggy, nearly impenetrable fur. They can strike with lightning speed at close range, but they are slow moving. Even the most experienced adventurer treads lightly in close proximity to one of these beasts.
- Natural Habitat
- Rarely encountered, they tend to nest in places far from civilization.
Domesticated Animals
Domesticated animals are creatures which have been adapted to work or to just provide company. Of the latter, the most common species are the Groffel and the Yulbar. However, there are some people who might want a clacker for a pet. Animals like the Pterosaur, the Goujah and the Megaras aren't often kept as pets, but as working beasts they are quite practical.
Goujah
The goujah is a kind of draft animal, often used to transport heavy material from one town to an other, or provide the motive power for a winch.
NOTE: Not much is known about the Goujah as the Dev team has not released much information about them
Groffel
Groffels are usually summoned from the Netherworld by the use of magical rings. They are known for their high intelligence, and are sometimes used to carry messages from one place to another. Furthermore, it is believed they can assist in mining operations and act as guard animals. However, for the most part, they are simply kept as pets. It is rumoured that as they grow older and larger they develop the ability to fly, but as no one has been able to keep a Groffel in captivity long enough, this has never been proved.
- Appearance
- It is a bizarre motley of fur and feathers, possessing a beak, talons, hind hoofs and small wings.
- Strength
- A Groffel has the strength of a small child.
- Natural Habitat
- Domesticated Groffels are usually summoned from the Netherworld.
Kikiri
Kikiris are small chook-like animals. They have wings, however they are rarely seen flying. Kikiris are often killed and eaten at festivities, making them quite common in farms, however, having said this, they can also be found in people's backyard, scratching to find food and unearthing flowers at the same time.
- Appearance
- A small bird much like our world's chicken.
- Strength
- Kikiris can be fairly easily killed, however they can provide good training for kids learning how to attack.
- Natural Habitat
- Kikiris' natural habitat is unknown, they might have been in Yliakum from before it was uninhabited or they might have been taken in Yliakum with the first settlers.
Megaras
Megaras are large bat-like flying creatures dating from even before the pterosaur. They are only found in Yliakum, and therefore, some scientists believe that they have been genetically mutated by the Crystal. Megaras are stronger and tougher then pterosaurs making them ideal to carry goods, however, they cannot carry people nor can they transport precious goods since they are too rough. Just like with pterosaurs, a person can only have in his or her possession one megaras.
Pterosaur
Pterosaurs are large, flying creatures used to carry a single passenger. They are a species of reptiles which have developed a membrane in order to fly. in average, Pterosaurs are about three to six metres. They are Riding a Pterosaur is the most luxurious, most expensive and quickest way of traveling. Luxurious because you get to sit the whole time while admiring the view and expensive because the Pterosaurs have to be trained for about 3 years before they can carry anyone safely. It is also a very quick firstly because you are flying, but also because it is possible to fly from one level to another without passing by the Winch. In order to avoid air congestion, a person can only have in his or her possession one pterosaur.
Yulbar
Yulbars are currently only found when magical rings are used to summon them. Yulbars are sometimes used to help mine ores and attack wild animals. Groffels are usually kept for enjoyment and unlike the Groffel, it is not used to carry messages often.
- Appearance
- A small amphibious looking creature with rounded spikes on its back
- Strength
- Possesses the strength of a small child
- Natural Habitat
- Domesticated Yulbars are usually summoned from the Netherworld

Brigands
Brigands, like thugs and rogues, are vile characters who loiter around merchants and steal whatever they can, whenever they can.
- Appearance
- Most bandits disguise themselves as ordinary civilians to get near merchants and make themselves hard to spot in a crowd.

- Strength
- Because of their constant training, they are highly skilled in the use of weapons.
- Location
- Mercenaries are employed by the Arena.
Rogues
Rogues are the most common type of vile character in Yliakum. Some will drop precious items, while others are only good for the combat experience. What's more, it is impossible to judge from their appearance whether they are strong or not.

- Rogues are normally dark clothed characters. They can sometimes be seen with a weapon in hand, but they prefer to keep them concealed.
- Strength
- Some rogues can be very powerful, while others can be extremely easy to kill.
